Second Person Dies After Deadly Street Race In Amarillo

The street racing incident on April 24th has resulted in a second person dieing from injuries sustained in a crash related to the race.

The crash happened just after 7pm on 34th and Grand.  According to police reports a Tahoe, a yellow Mustang and a grey GMC pickup were racing when the Tahoe lost control, struck a curb and rolled several times before coming to a stop.

James Keith Sutton, 24 was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christy Breece was a passenger in the Tahoe and had been in critical condition until she succumbed to her injuries over the weekend.

The driver of the yellow Mustang was located a few days later and the driver of the pickup was found a few days after that.

The APD's Traffic Investigation Squad is continuing to gather information and will present the case to the Randall County District Attorney's Office when the investigation is complete.
