OnStar Decides Against Plan To Track Non-Subscribers

Last week we reported on OnStar’s plan to track so information on non-subscribers in OnStar equipped vehicles. Now in the face of customer revolt, OnStar has scrapped the plan.

After getting pressure from Congress, Drudge Report and customers OnStar is reversing their plan to track users speed and location with an eye towards selling the information.

Now when you cancel OnStar it will be turned off.  However OnStar reserves the right to individually contact customers to request keeping the information.
