Nearly 150 structures including homes and businesses are in the flood plain of Martin Lake.  The city is going to do something about that.

Beginning April 7th a $4 million project to improve the situation at Martin Lake will begin.  The 240 day construction project will remove more than 400,000 cubic yards of material from the lake while also replacing major drainage pipes.

The contractor on the project is from Borger, D.E. Rice Construction Company Inc.  The company has 240 days to complete the project not counting holidays, weekends or weather days.

Martin Road will be closed for approximately three weeks during the project.
