NEW YORK (AP) — IBM's Watson supercomputer is getting his own business division and a new home in the heart of New York City.

CeBIT 2011The Armonk, N.Y.-based computing company says the new business will be dedicated to the development and commercialization of the project that first gained fame by defeating a pair of "Jeopardy!" champions in 2011.

IBM has since been developing Watson for more practical purposes. It's being used in industries ranging from health care to banking.

As part of the move, IBM will invest up to $1 billion and is building a new headquarters for the business on the edge of New York City's East Village near New York University.

Michael Rhodin, who will lead the new business, says the move marks the start of a new era for IBM.
