Yesterday morning around 1am Amarillo police attempted to execute a traffic violation stop at SE 3rd and Grand.

Officers activated their emergency lights.  The vehicle slowed but refused to stop.  During the low speed pursuit, officers observed the passenger side window break out from a black object that was thrown through the window out of the car.  The car continued a short distance further before getting stuck in the mud.

Officers removed the occupants.  During a pat down search on suspect was found to be in possession of brass knuckles attached to his belt.  Officers searching for the object thrown from the car found a black semi-automatic handgun in the ditch.

The driver, Dewayne Camp, 44 was arrested for various charges including felon in possession of a firearm.  The passenger, Tanner William Houghton, 34 was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.\

Both were booked into Potter County.
