What Country Works the Longest Hours?

Work Stress

While some Americans are still feeling the reverberations of an unstable economy, many are now putting in longer hours in an attempt to catch up.

Some workers are even being asked by their employers to put in more hours for the same pay as a means of the company’s survival within the marketplace.

What’s true is that most Americans would agree that they feel like they put in entirely too many hours throughout the week.

However, are we putting in more or less than the rest of the world?

According to recent figures from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Americans are actually working fewer hours than 18 other countries — ranking at number 19, working an average of 1695 hours.

When looking at the average annual hours worked per person worldwide, places like South Korea are working more than anyone else in the world. The country tops the list with a mind blowing 2,193 hours, followed by Chile with 2,068.

The Netherlands works fewer hours than any other country in the world, working an average of 1377 hours. Germany takes a close second at 1408.
