Trailer Full Of Copper Stolen In Amarillo Found In Florida, Sans Copper

Thieves in Amarillo hit the lick of the year when they commandeered a flatbed truck carrying 56 800lb copper plates.

It was such a large crime it was featured on Crime Stoppers this week.

You can stop scanning Amarillo for this copper because it is long, long gone.

Florida authorities found the trailer near Hollywood...Hollywood, Fla.  Without the copper.  The load was worth more than $147,000 based on the current price of $3.30 per pound.

The truck and trailer were stolen May 29 near I40.
