Trade-A-Thon, Presidents Day, And Why You Don’t Talk On Your Speakerphone
A look back at another Saturday of buying, selling, and trading.
It’s Trade-A-Thon presented by Damron’s Pawn. We invite you to call in a list for sale the belongings you no longer want but still have value. We do it every Saturday from nine to noon.
THE BIG QUESTION
We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their listing. It helps us both get to know the caller and provides a theme that ties together all the calls. Sometimes silly, this week we went topical.
Being President’s Day weekend we decided to take your vote on favorite president. Of course the holiday isn’t for all of them. Maybe it should be.
Who is your favorite president?
- Roosevelt 2
1 vote each for:
John Adams, Washington, Kennedy, George W Bush, and Truman
My favorite is John Adams, most likely due to the excellent eponymous HBO mini series.
We go over the rules of the program at the beginning of each hour. Along with the five regular rules I always give out a Rule #6. It changes every week. It is usually inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.
I live in an apartment. I have a neighbor who has gotten into the habit of talking on her speakerphone while outside on her patio. I have heard the extent of three conversations, not because I wanted but because I couldn’t escape it. All three conversations ended with my neighbor begging that in the future the person answer her calls and don’t ignore and forsake her again. In other words, my neighbor is so needy her friends periodically freeze her out for a much needed break. There’s a rule in that somewhere.
Rule 6: Don’t use your speakerphone adjacent to common areas.
Join us this Saturday at nine for another Trade-A-Thon!
