West Texas A&M baseball and softball teams are busy preparing for postseason play.

For the second time in school history and first since 2013, the West Texas A&M baseball team will host the 2018 Lone Star Conference Baseball Championship at Wilder Park, May 10-12.  The Buffs won their first outright LSC regular season title with a 3-1 series win at Angelo State last weekend to earn the right to host the championship.

The Buffs, ranked sixth nationally, finished the regular season with a school-record 38-11 mark overall and 20-4 in LSC play winning the regular season title by two games over Tarleton State.  The single-elimination tournament begins on Thursday and concludes Saturday.

Following WT and Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville is the No. 3-seed, followed by Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico and UT Permian Basin.

Tournament play will begin on Thursday, May 10, with two games at 3 and 7 p.m.  The top two seeds receive a first-round bye and will face Thursday’s winners on May 11.  The tournament championship will be decided on Saturday, May 12, at 3 p.m.

The #10 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will be making their sixth straight and eighth overall appearance in the NCAA Division II Softball Postseason this weekend as they head to San Angelo, Texas as the third seed in the South Central Region.
