The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon, Severe Weather, And Taxes

Saturday morning The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon took flight again, bringing buyers and sellers together.

It's the show that opens up the phone lines and the airwaves to you every Saturday morning from 9-Noon.  It's want ads on the radio and you have a standing invitation to call or just kick back and listen.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask our callers a poll question before they give their items.  It provides a way to discuss the topic of the day and ties our calls together with a central theme.  Some would say just allowing people on the air is enough but we like to take things to 11.

Monday the 18th your federal income taxes for 2015 are due.  As I was due a refund I did mine before the end of January and have already spent the return.  We were curious if you had already done yours.

RULE #6

Along with the official rules of the program that we present every hour, we always bring you a special rule #6.  It changes every week, usually inspired by something that happened to me over the last week.

Our Big Question is one we ask every year and this week's rule is one we bring to you every year.  It's severe weather season and past time for you to be severe weather ready.  There's no shortage of tips available for how you should prepare for severe weather and its aftermath.  Curiously, one tip usually gets lost in the shuffle.

There's one thing you should always do when severe weather is around you.  When you're at home and the severe weather alarm is sounded take a quick inventory of your current attire and ask yourself if you'd be fine with your neighbors seeing you in your current getup.  Ask yourself if you could walk on broken glass with your current footwear.  If those answers are negative, you need to get dressed.

Know where your coat is, put on clothes you won't be embarrassed in and maybe most importantly, get proper footwear on your feet.  You may have to walk outside or walk on broken glass from a window.  With severe weather, you just never know.

Rule #6: Get dressed during severe weather.
