The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon Buys Local

The show that strives to bring buyers and sellers together was back on the air Saturday morning.

It's the show where you can buy, sell and trade.  We do it every Saturday morning at around 9:06am and as always you are invited to call in or sit back and listen.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask all our callers a poll question before they list their items.  It helps provide a bit of stream of consciousness during the show.

I had a bad experience last week with a local computer shop.  I had money in hand ready to spend locally.  But I got the distinct impression I was wasting their time.  I ended the call and made my purchase online.  I probably saved around $200 over what I could have paid locally.

It got me to wondering how many of you are doing your shopping online vs locally.  Everyone likes to shout "buy local" but in 2015 some things are just easier, cheaper and more convenient to purchase online.

Personally I do the majority of my shopping online.  With the exception of food and toiletries I usually look online first to make a purchase.  If I think I can get a similar price and the retailer wants my business I'll go local.  If I get the impression my money isn't any good, I go online.

RULE #6

We bring you the official rules of the program at the beginning of each hour.  It is usually inspired by something that has happened to me over the last week, sometimes it's out of left field.

I was tossing and turning Friday night trying to get some much needed rest before the show.  As I lay there, not sleeping, it dawned on me that much as I take care of you, the callers, Erwin Pawn takes care of me.  Sounds like a good rule.
