Thanksgiving is pretty much here!  That means cooking and more cooking.  An easy solution would be to canned items instead of homemade.  Let's not!  LOL.  Here is a simple way to make homemade cranberry sauce.

With Thanksgiving being such a busy holiday, it's easy to find shortcuts while cooking.  Well, I have a super simple recipe for cranberry sauce that will make you never want to buy that canned stuff ever again.

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup sugar, or more, to taste
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag fresh cranberries

Now let's cook it!

  • In a medium saucepan, mix orange juice, orange zest, sugar and 3/4 cup water over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Now mix in the cranberries and bring to a boil.  You will now reduce the heat and let simmer until sauce has thickened, about 15 minutes.
  • Let cool completely before serving.

This recipe can be made up to a week in advance and still be awesome.  It is also perfect to add to those left over turkey sandwiches!  Yummy!
