Storms In Denton Caused $300 Million In Damage

DENTON, Texas (AP) — An insurance group says recent storms that generated hail the size of softballs and pounded parts of North Texas caused about $300 million in damage.

Five people were slightly hurt and hundreds of homes and businesses lost power in the April 3 storms in the Denton and Hunt County areas.

The Denton Record-Chronicle (http://bit.ly/R5NI9B ) reported Wednesday that most of the damage was in Denton County. The Insurance Council of Texas on Wednesday overall reported about 24,000 vehicles and 12,000 homes damaged.

Denton County's emergency management director, Jody Gonzalez, says about 40 percent of the damage is likely auto-related.
