I must be honest.  I've never stayed in a hotel classy enough to have bath robes in the rooms.  But if you have and have pilfered one of those robes you might think twice next time.

RFID chips promise to change many facets of everyday life.  They allow passive monitoring of anything one should choose to embed them in.  This includes tracking where all the robes, towels and linens went from your favorite 5-star hotel.

Only three hotels have implemented the technology so far but I would expect a wider adoption as the recovery rate of items rises dramatically.

Just because I've never been the 5-star route doesn't mean I haven't absconded with my far share of ash trays and pens.
