Canyon ISD has upgraded and changed some security policies for the new school year.

This year visitors can enter outside doors but must be buzzed in to gain access to the school.  Additionally fences have been erected around school property and added security cameras at some schools.

The biggest change is the addition of two new liaison officers to the middle schools.  The officers will be armed.  A new policy also allows an additional gun locked in a gun cabinet that is only accessible by the officers.
