If you are a daily taker of a birth control pill from Pfizer, you might want to abstain until you are certain your pills aren't being recalled.

1 million packs of birth control pills are being recalled by Pfizer, the world's biggest drugmaker.

The company recalled 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and 14 lots of a generic version of the medicine, New York-based Pfizer said yesterday in an e-mail. About 1 million packs of 28 tablets were withdrawn, Grace Ann Arnold, a Pfizer spokeswoman, said in a separate e-mail.

For those that have never taken the pill, there are placebo's to be taken when the woman is off-cycle.  The placebo's were mixed with the real pills.  So women taking pink pills on white pill days may not be getting their shot of hormone.

The mix up does not pose any health risks.  Users just may be a lot more fertile than they intend.
