Palo Duro Canyon State Park Getting 3 Bridges

CANYON, Texas (AP) — A state park in the Texas Panhandle will be getting three bridges to help improve the flow of traffic along crossings that can flood during storms.

The Amarillo Globe-News (http://bit.ly/161SPdS ) reported Tuesday that the improvements are scheduled to start this fall at Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation say two bridges should be finished by next March. Park Superintendent Cory Evans says work will start next summer on the third water crossing.

Some park roadways were flooding during heavy rain last week.

Evans says other improvements at the park near Canyon include recently completed paving in the Juniper day-use area. Utilities will be installed later this year at the site. Dayside campsites and a group pavilion should be finished by next spring.
