Monday Night Football: Titans Knock Jets From Playoff Chase, 14-10

Chris Johnson ran for 122 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and the Tennessee Titans held on to beat the New York Jets, 14-10, in Nashville on Monday night. After falling behind 10-7, Tennessee (5-9) surged ahead 14-10 on Jake Locker’s 13-yard run at the end of the third quarter and preserved the lead. The loss eliminated New York (6-8) from the AFC playoff picture.
Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez committed five turnovers, including an interception thrown to Michael Griffin at the Tennessee 2-yard line with 1:51 to play. The Titans were forced to punt the ball after the Jets’ defense held its ground following Griffin’s interception. A fumbled exchange between Sanchez and center Nick Mangold on the next series was recovered by Tennessee’s Zach Brown, allowing Locker and the offense to run out the clock.
In addition to his four interceptions and the fumble, Sanchez finished with 131 passing yards and a touchdown. Griffin and Jason McCourty each had two interceptions for the Titans, who sacked Sanchez three times and Jets’ back-up QB Tim Tebow once.
