Mental Health Summit At The Amarillo VA

Every day more veterans return home.  Yesterday the Amarillo VA and local health professionals met to discuss mental health issues in regards to those returning veterans.

Post traumatic stress is a common problem with returning veterans.  Local officials want to ensure issues are addressed in a timely fashion.  Currently the Amarillo VA is in compliance with rules requiring a new patient to see a specialist within 14 days of a referral.

Nationally the news is not nearly as good with many veterans waiting months for care.
