Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin is under fire for posing with a fake bloodied prop made to resemble Donald Trump's head. TMZ reports the pic came about during a photo shoot with Tyler Shields. Upon seeing the backlash against the imagery on social media, Griffin almost immediately responded with an apology and said she is asking Shields to take it down.

In the behind-the-photo-shoot TMZ clip, Griffin says, "Tyler and I are not afraid to make noise." She jokes that Shields features her in the most flattering lighting, and that the two  have to "move to Mexico" once the controversial image gets out because they'll go to "federal prison" for it.

It seems like Griffin's instincts weren't far off, because the social media outcries against the picture began almost immediately. In a Facebook video (below) with more than 300k views, Griffin says she "sincerely apologizes" and "went way too far."

CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live buddy, Anderson Cooper. He tweeted, "For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate."

Looks like the next few days are going to offer quite the upheaval for Griffin and Shields, who has not yet publicly commented on the photo.
