HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police responding to reports of shots fired have discovered the bodies of two women in an apartment.

Police on Wednesday declined to release the names of the two women pending autopsy results. Police say a gun was recovered at the scene Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency personnel received a 911 call reporting a murder and a suicide. Authorities did not immediately say who placed the call.

Officers who entered the home found one woman dead in a bedroom. Police checking for other victims found a second woman armed with a gun, but she was unresponsive. Tactical officers responded to help secure the location. Police later determined the second woman was also dead and she had been shot.

Autopsies have been ordered.
