An early morning fire on Tuesday saw the Fire Department responding to a local housing complex.

The fire occurred at the 1600 block of South Madison.  The fire was located in the attic.  The fire was caused by a malfunction exhaust fan.  AFD was able to quickly extinguish the fire but not before causing an estimate $35,000 in damage.

The local chapter of the American Red Cross is helping to assist victims of the fire.
