I've used the word 'scam' with the company 'Xcel' quite often.  My power bill feels like I'm being taken advantage of.  But Hispanic customers of Xcel are being targeted in a scam and it isn't a joke.

Someone is calling Spanish speaking customers of Xcel and falsely claiming their power is about to be disconnected.

To avoid a service interruption the customer is asked to buy a Green Dot pre-pay Visa card and to call back in with the card's information.

If you or someone you know gets a call of this nature you are asked to contact Xcel at 1-800-894-4999 to confirm the call came from them.
