Thunderstorm Rips Through TownsvilleThanks to revenue from the city's red light cameras, floodgates have been installed at a couple of problem underpasses in Amarillo.

The underpasses at 3rd & Grant and 10th & Grant regularly become dangerous and flooded during and after thunderstorms.  The underpasses run under BNSF tracks.  The gates look very similar to railroad crossing gates but operate manually.

An operator with a key will have to respond when the underpasses flood.

The gates cost the city about $85,000 and the funds came from revenue from red light cameras that are operational in the city.
