Funding for the project to address the low underpass in Dalhart is getting a little help from TxDot.

The Texas Transportation Commission has decided to include the $8 million dollar project into their 10 year plan.  TxDot will contribute $2.5 million.  The money comes from extra money allocated from previous projects.

Clearance for the underpass is only 13 feet 7 inches high and located off Highway 87.  Semi trucks can range from 13 feet 6 inches to 14 feet in height. The underpass is a major issue for truck drivers as they have to reroute around the underpass and results in drivers driving longer routes.

A soft date of August of 2015 is the target date for the beginning of the project.
