Yesterday was the first day in two years the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority was able to pump water from Lake Meredith.

The plan is to pump 10 million gallons of water per day for two months from the lake.  Recent heavy rains have helped raise the level of the lake to allow resumption of pumping.

Some living in the area around the lake are dismayed and wish the CRMWA would leave the lake like it is to encourage recreation to return to the lake.

The CRMWA reminds all citizens that the lake was created by surrounding counties to be used for drinking water and recreation has always been a secondary concern when it comes to utilizing the lake for drinking water or not.
