WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans are pressing the Obama administration to fully disclose its plans to tackle climate change, including cost, as environmental officials ready one of the most significant pieces in President Barack Obama’s global warming strategy.

Rep. Ed Whitfield, a Kentucky Republican who chairs a House energy panel, said Wednesday that federal agencies must be transparent about actions that collide directly with efforts to develop diverse energy sources.

Republicans had invited the heads of 13 federal agencies, but only two — EPA administrator Gina McCarthy and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz — attended.

McCarthy said the EPA would soon issue a revised proposal to limit the pollution blamed for global warming from newly built power plants. Moniz assured the panel that fossil fuels will remain significant sources of energy for years to come.
