The Amarillo City Council and other city officials have addressed the scandal at the city's water department.

The scandal started in May when the city let go most of it's meter readers and began estimating water usage for certain customers.  The estimates were based on water usage from 2014 which was greatly elevated during the summer drought.  This lead to exorbitant water bills not in line with the abundance of rain we've gotten this spring.

Bills for districts 4, 6, and 8 went out yesterday.  The bills will state whether the meter was read or the usage estimated.

Concerned citizens are encouraged to call the Water Department at 806-378-3030.
