The City of Canyon City Commission voted yesterday to pass an ordinance banning the use of electronic cigarettes or ‘e-cigs’ by minors in the city.

The commission voted 4-1 for the ordinance.  Right now there are no state or federal regulations for e-cigs and minors can legally buy them, except in Canyon.

The ordinance will be enforced similar to a tobacco ordinance.

Minors caught in possession of an e-cig face a Class C misdemeanor and a fine up to $500.
