On Tuesday Amarillo was the scene of a one-woman crime spree.

An Amarillo woman allegedly stole a white Dodge flatbed pickup on Tuesday from a business on Amarillo Boulevard.  After taking the truck the woman armed herself with a water gun draped it in gray clothing and then drove to the Amarillo National Bank at 712 North Taylor.  She left the truck parked out front.

Once inside she went to an area not normally open to the public and confronted a female bank employee.  She announced her intent to rob the bank.  Then a male employee of the bank entered the area and bumped into the would-be bank robber.  Realizing the gun was not real, he attempted to detain the woman while they waited for the authorities.

The alleged car thief was able to break free and fled the bank.  She was apprehended by Amarillo Police before she could get in the waiting stolen truck to make her escape.  The suspect is a 31-year-old woman whose name has not been released.

There were no injuries reported.
