Amarillo Retirement Home Fire

A fire at Independence Village retirement home sent one to the hospital on Saturday.

Around 8:30pm Amarillo Fire Fighters responded to the report of a fire at the retirement home.  The fire was caused by a heating pad inside a room on the first floor.

The fire was extinguished by 8:35pm/

Fire crews rescued on person and they were taken to Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems with non-life threatening injuries.
