Amarillo Driving-While-Celling Ban Is Adopted

For some it is a blessing, for others a curse.  But for all Amarilloans it is soon to be a reality.

The city commission has voted 4-1 to adopt the ban that affects cell phones, hand held video games and GPS devices.

In Texas  cellphone use contributed to 3,409 crashes in 2010, including 46 fatalities, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. That is an increase from 3,352, including 31 deaths, in 2006.
