Amarillo City Council Meeting On Tax Increase

The Amarillo City Council is discussing a hike in property taxes.

The city council will hold their first hearing today on the proposed property tax increase.  They are seeking an increase of a half percent.  The average home owner would pay an extra $5.80 more per year.

Officials want the increase to pay for seven new police officers and for more staff at animal management and welfare.
