Woman On Moped Struck By Car Sunday Night

An Amarillo woman is in the hospital fighting for her life after a Sunday evening accident.

Around 10pm last night Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Grand Street.  When they arrived on the scene that found a 2009 Nissan four-door traveling south struck a moped that was stalled in the traffic lane on the overpass.

47-year-old Maria Escobar was the driver of the moped.  She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
