The Venom jumped out to a 15-0 lead but the Gladiators stormed back and took the lead by halftime and never gave it up in a 42-33 decision in the Champions Indoor Football League on Saturday.

Duke City held Amarillo to just 158 yards of offense as Venom Quarterback Nate Davis struggled to get the ball to his receivers. Davis finished 15 of 37 passing for 116 yards with two touchdowns but also threw three interceptions.

The Gladiators are now 5-1 and take over the lead in the CIF's Southern Conference by half a game over the Venom, which fall to 4-1 on the season.

Amarillo will host the Wichita Force this Saturday at the Civic Center.
