GEORGETOWN, Colo. (AP) — Two Colorado Department of Transportation workers have been injured after an avalanche shell exploded while they were working on Loveland Pass.

Department spokeswoman Crystal Morgan says the accident happened around daybreak Monday. She says the accident occurred at an area known as the Seven Sisters on the east side of the pass, known for its steep chasms filled with snow and ice.

The two workers have been flown to St. Anthony Hospital, where their conditions weren't immediately available.
