A three foot deep sinkhole has opened in the pavement on Georgia near Loop 335.

North and southbound traffic on Georgia is down to one lane due to the sinkhole.

The cause of the sinkhole is attributed to a leaking storm water pipe in an area near a recent excavation by a contractor.  Recent heavy rains led to the washing out and eventual collapse of the pavement.

Repairs are underway and it is hoped they will be completed by Thursday.  Expect delays in the area until repairs are complete.
