Sylvania is showing off the latest in light bulbs.  Congress passed a law in 2007 that basically says out with the old and in with the new.  A new always costs a lot more than old.

Incandescent technology is over a hundred years old and they waste most of the energy put into them.

By 2012 Congress has mandated that 100 watt bulbs meet certain efficiency goals.  Meeting these goals has turned out to be more difficult and costly than expected.

Since January California has banned stores from stocking the old type bulbs.

The new bulbs will cost about $50 each which doesn't leave me bubbling with excitement.
