The Red Raiders struggled through four quarters against the Wildcats, managing just two field goals in the 21-6 loss. It was one of the team's worst showings in recent years.

Murphy's Law was in full effect for Texas Tech. Anything that can go wrong, did go wrong during the team's penultimate shot at a bowl game.

Texas Tech squandered numerous drives, with quarterback Jett Duffey throwing an interception and fumbling the ball during the first three quarters of the game. Punter Dominic Panazzolo, a Ray Guy Award semifinalist, had a punt blocked, giving the Wildcats two points and another possession. And the normally prolific air raid offense, with potent weapons like TJ Vasher and Antoine Wesley, scored zero touchdowns. Their only points came from kicker Clayton Hatfield, who knocked through two field goals, setting a new school record (12 field goals in a row).

With around six minutes left in the game, Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury, seeing the writing on the wall, pulled Duffey to play the team's original 2018 starting QB McLane Carter. On Carter's first snap, he fumbled the ball, and K-State recovered.

If it could go wrong, it did go wrong.

Next up, the now 5-6 Texas Tech heads to Arlington, Texas on Saturday, November 24th to face off against the Baylor Bears for their last shot at securing bowl game eligibility. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.
