Garrett McNamara is the name you'll find in the next Guinness book under "tallest wave surfed".

McNamara was in Portugal, home to deep water canyons that generate some of the world's largest waves.

The wave McNamara caught was 90ft tall.  The previous record was 77ft set in 2001.  Unofficially an 85 foot wave was surfed in 1998.

In 2007 McNamara became one of the first people to surf a wave caused by a glacier.

If you catch a 90ft wave you really are sittin' on top of the world.
