The city is repairing a storm sewer and it will mean headaches for anyone trying to travel in the area.

The City of Amarillo's Capital Projects and Development Engineering contractors began work this morning.  The work is to repair a storm sewer line at Southeast 34th Avenue and South Grand.

For the duration of the project traffic moving east and west along 34th will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  There will be detours for motorists attempting to turn left on Grand.  All right hand turns at the intersection of 34th and Grand will remain open.

Eastbound 34th traffic trying to access northbound Grand will be detoured at Fairfield Street to 32nd Avenue and back on to Grand.

Westbound 34th Avenue traffic trying to access southbound Grand will be detoured at Harris Drive to 35th Avenue and back to Grand.

Northbound Grand Street traffic will be detoured on to 35th Avenue at Harris Drive and back to 34th.

Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, September 21st.
