The ramp reversal project on the frontage roads of I-40 between Coulter and Soncy entered a new phase today.

Expect delays when traveling through the area.  The best bet is to avoid the area if at all possible.  Being one of the busiest areas in town implies it is tough to avoid.

This morning work began on the left side of the roadway and this required the closing of the left lane on the frontage road from Coulter to Cinema Drive.  The westbound entrance ramp to I-40 between Coulter and Soncy will be closed.

The westbound right lane of I-40 will also be closed for work to begin on the new ramps.  Traffic will be restricted to only two lanes westbound.  Delays in the area are expected.

These lane closures will remain in effect until at least mid-October.

The $5.4 million project is intended to enhance safety in the area, especially during the holidays when the area suffers from intense congestion.  The project is expected to be completed by November.
