Potter County held a meeting yesterday and approved a property tax hike.

Last night was the final reading of the proposed budget and tax rate.  The increase is 4.75%.

For the average home in the area that would equal around $2 extra per month or $24 a year.

Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner says the increase was a necessity.

The extra tax revenue will go toward a mental health court, a new fire station, and other projects.
