When you think of pigeon, you think of those pesky little birds that sit on high lines or towers and cover your car in poop.  That or if you're like me, when someone says pigeons, Goodfeathers from Animaniacs pops into my head.  However, that's not the case, pigeons will be taking over Amarillo starting this Thursday.

Did you know that there is such a thing as a National Pigeon Convention?  It exists and it will be happening at the Amarillo Civic Center.

The National Pigeon Association Grand National will be happening this Thursday through Saturday.

Over 4500 birds will be on display.

According to Charles Hanna, Direct Six Director,

“It’s the Westminster of pigeon shows- this is the top notch show for pigeon breeders, exhibitors, owners and fans. When it is done on Saturday, one bird will be named Best of Show.”

The event is open to the public and free to attend.
