A Thanksgiving weekend of food, family, and shopping is behind us.  In the midst of it all we brought you another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon.

The radio show that allows you to list for sale the belongings you no longer need to get the Christmas cash you do did not take the holiday off.  In fact, we celebrated Small Business Saturday.  Erwin Pawn is our favorite small business.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask all our callers a poll question before the list their items.  It helps us get to know you better and provides a common theme that ties all our calls together.

Sometimes wacky and other times bizarre, this week we wanted to ask a question related to your Thanksgiving dinner.  We know turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce are all staples of the main course.  There are dessert staples also like all the great pies.

If your family is anything like mine there are two types of pie mandatory at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  They would be pumpkin and pecan.  We were curious which was your favorite.

Pecan or Pumpkin

Pecan 25

Pumpkin 5

As you can see we don't have a lot of pumpkin fans calling in the program.  Pecan is my favorite of the two, my favorite pie, and is in the top 10 of my favorite foods.  I can't get enough.  Unfortunately on my radio salary I cannot afford pecans and have to substitute peanuts.

RULE 6

At the beginning of each hour we bring you the rules of the program. That way everyone knows how the show works and what is expected.  Along with the five regular rules  of the program I always bring you a special Rule #6.  It is my attempt at poor man's observational humor and is often inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.

Wednesday evening I set up my Christmas tree.  It took quite sometime.  Mainly this was due to getting it to look more like a tree and less like a sardine crammed in a tin can.  It's called "the fluff" and is a rite of passage for anyone putting up an artificial tree.  If you don't get it properly fluffed it will look pretty sad after you get the lights and ornaments on.  And once that is done there is no fixing it.  Your tree will look like Charlie Brown's Christmas until you mercifully take it down in January.

Rule 6: Properly fluff your Christmas tree before hanging lights and ornaments.

RULE 7

I also had an extra thought I wanted to impart about the holiday.  I'll let it speak for itself.

Rule 7: Don't allow the holidays to be about who you can't see but rather embrace those you do.

I hope to see you this Saturday for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon!
