Online Petition Protesting Cell Phone Ban But Will Do Little Good

The City of Amarillo has passed a driving while cell phoning ban.  Now people are upset.  But there is little you can do about it now.  You had a chance to speak.

Someone has started an online petition to get the ban put on a city ballot to let voters decide.

This is all great until you realize the gesture is mostly symbolic and has little chance of getting attention from the city.

According to the city charter you have to have five people form a committee and that committee has six months to get 25% of registered voters to sign.  The online petition may feel good but it is falling on deaf ears, using hands free devices.
