If 2015 was the "Year of the Vandal" in Amarillo, 2016 is shaping up to be the "Year of the SWAT Team".

Early Monday morning around 2:30am the Amarilo Police Department's SWAT Team was deployed to a home in the 3400 block of Mockingbird.  Inside the home and refusing to come out was Keith Loven Laird.  His was the name on a warrants for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana, and two local municipal warrants.  As Laird would not surrender and Police believed he could possibly be in possession of firearms, the SWAT Team was activated.

Around 3:30am the SWAT Team breached the front door and entered the home.  As they entered the front, Laird attempted to escape by fleeing out the back door.  He was quickly apprehended.

Laird was placed under arrest for Evading Arrest on foot and the warrants.  He was booked  into Randall County Jail.  A second person in the home, Andrea Esperanza Mallory was found to also have a couple of municipal warrants and she was also booked into Randall County Jail.
