New $400 Million Wind Farm Coming To The Panhandle

A new wind farm has been announced for Oldham County.

It seems like every month someone is announcing a new wind farm relatively close to Amarillo.

The newest wind farm to be announced is a $400 million dollar project.  87 wind turbines in total are expected to capture enough wind energy to power 70,000 homes.

This new farm will be around 10 miles southeast of Vega straddling Oldham and Deaf Smith counties.

Texas leads the nation in wind energy captured.  In 2015 over 10% of the electricity used by the state was generated by wind turbines.
