BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick says the "power of working together" is what helped Boston get through and recover from a terrorist attack at last year's Boston Marathon.

Patrick made his remarks Monday to about 200 municipal leaders, emergency responders and others gathered at Boston University for a symposium on leading cities through crisis.

Patrick praised doctors, nurses, marathon volunteers, bystanders, law enforcement agents and business leaders for cooperating after the attack.

Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says he and Patrick began creating a victims' assistance organization, the One Fund, within hours of the attack.Twin bombs placed near the finish line of last year's marathon killed three people and wounded more than 260.
