A Miles City, Montana man is under treatment for a gunshot wound to the ankle.  The wound was self-inflicted after he was denied pain killers for back pain.

The 48-year-old was upset after leaving Holy Rosary Healthcare hospital Monday night.  Instead of seeking treatment elsewhere he took a gun from his car and shot himself in the hospital parking lot to gain treatment.

Prosecutors are still reviewing the case to determine if charges are warranted.

Without more information it's difficult to take a stand here.  I've known about as many addicted people as people in true constant and intense pain.  This would be about the most desperate I'd ever seen an addict, while to a person in constant pain this action might seem completely rational.

Either way I hope this man gets the help he needs and not the condemnation he's sure to receive.
